General Retreat Information Day of Mindfulness

What is Day of Mindfulness?

Every day and every hour, is a chance to practice mindfulness. That’s easier said than done! That’s why we suggest to those who come to retreats that each person should try to reserve one day out of the week to devote entirely to their practice of mindfulness. In principle, of course every day should be your day, and every hour should be your hour. But the fact is that very few of us have reached this level of freedom. We have the impression that our family, place of work, and society rob us of all our time. That is why we urge everyone to set aside one day each week dedicated to the practice of mindfulness.

Plum Village organizes Days of Mindfulness on Thursdays and Sundays. These days help you to practice mindfulness completely, an entire day to take care of ourselves! These days can be a lever that will lift you into the habit of practicing mindfulness in daily life.  Those in peace or service roles, no matter how urgent their work, are in special need of such a day -- without it we can quickly lose ourselves in stress and worries, and our responses may become increasingly futile.

At Plum Village, Thursdays and Sundays are open for the public to practice meditation. Please see our french website to check the date and location for days of mindfulness.

A typical day's schedule is as follows:

9:00       Dharma Talk
11:00    Walking Mediation
12:00    Lunch
Rest
15:00    Dharma Discussion

There is no need for registration; you are welcome to leave a donation at your own discretion.
