One more comment. Could we not just make a less than perfectly round size burger? Using plastic wrap to make uniformly shaped patties is very wasteful. Plastic wrap is make from oil products. We should try to thin of ways to end our overuse of oil-based products to save our planet. I just pat the patties out in my hand- they taste just as delicious.

No cruelty foods
written by Monica Causey , July 12, 2010
Thanks so much for adding this recipe. I am always looking for interesting combinations of foods. Can't wait to try this. I eat a vegan diet. I began doing so when I discovered that there is a myth out there that some animal products such as eggs and dairy are cruelty-free.
That is the message the factory farms want the public to believe. In fact, the amount of suffering chickens and dairy cows endure to provide eggs and dairy is horrendous. Even the so called "free-roaming" label is a myth. I was very happy that Blue Cliff Monastery prepared only vegan foods at the retreat I attended last October.
I feel I actually eat much more flavorful meals now.

Thank you for the recipe. I have been slowly switching to a vegetarian lifestyle after reading the teachings of Thay. The recipes definitely help the transition.

Thank you so much for adding these recipes!
I think it is a very simple but powerful way to help people lead a more mindful life.
I am thrilled with my vegetarian lifestyle.
Many people however are afraid to give it a try simply because they've never been taught how to cook good vegetarian food.
I'm originally from the midwest of the United States.
The cooking traditions there use meat as the solitary source of flavor in most dishes. It takes a while for people to realize that vegetables and whole grains have so much natural flavor if only you cook them correctly. Thanks!
