Send messages of support to Bat Nha monastics

Dear friends,

Over 350 young Bat Nha monks and nuns are currently at Chùa Phước Huệ temple in Bảo Lộc, Vietnam. This is where they have been given temporary sanctuary after their violent eviction from Bat Nha on Sunday 27th. The situation is very difficult. The temple is normally only for 5 monks; there are now 400 of them in that space, in dire sanitary conditions. The police have surrounded the temple and threatening more violence. The aim of the police is to break up the monastic sangha, at all costs. But the monks and nuns assert their right to stay together, as a sangha. Without a sangha we are alone and vulnerable, like a tiger that has left the mountain.

If you wish to send a message of support directly to the monks and nuns, it may be very encouraging for them to read in this difficult and challenging moment. They need to know that we are all here for them.

Love, peace, compassion, kindness....you are the light of the world. I visualize the glow of many candles lighting up the world and sending you much loving kindness, positive energy and "light". May you be safe and free from harm.

dear community, i am sorry i only read of your troubles today. i pray that calm replaces fear, love heals the heartfelt hurt, that courage gives confidence...and that you know that i have read of your difficulties...after years of thinking of your founder as my teacher i could not have imagined such significant hardship befalling your Sangha. it is it seems so prevalent for those who live in fear to fear those who live in peace.
you inspire me, and are held in my intentions.
humbly and in peace

Remedy for the world.....loving kindness.
written by Thao , October 17, 2009

I am not a monk or enlightened but I have come to realized that the only remedy for our world right now is loving kindness. And I wish the Brothers and Sisters practice only that but nothing else then I am sure every atom in the universe will be on your side. We need you all. Please practice loving kindness to quicken our pace toward a peaceful world or I should say Buddha Land. I am looking up to you all for my awakening as well as the whole world.
I always have an unshakable believe that we are all one. There is no separation between us.Whenever the Brothers and Sisters are suffering the world is suffering or whenever a single person in the universe suffers the universe suffers. Because we are sharing this dream world together there is no separateness.Doesn't matter the wickedness, the oppression, and all the bad things happen to you we are all there together. My wish if this truth is accepted by my oppressors it would be wonderful. A cause for celebration...
Whoever practices loving kindness is my eyes and ears. You can chop off all the limbs in my body if you practice loving kindness for me.

Everything will come and go. Loving kindness is the only way.

You not alone....chung song
written by Thao , October 17, 2009
A single individual can make a different.
A single thought of loving kindness can erase a mountain of sufferings for the
world.I am looking up to you Brothers and Sisters to erase sufferings for me,the world, and for all of us. A few week ago I have heard a story about a monk from Korea, during the VN war he made a statement "Because of the inadequacy of my practices that these wars still exist" with tears in his eyes. Right now tearing are falling from my eyes because of those words.
You see we are all one.I am the universe, the universe is me
My sufferings is the sufferings of the universe, and sufferings still exist because loving kindness has not fill all the space in the universe yet.
If I could have one wish right now. Please grant me a wish that may love permeate and fill every atoms in the universe and bless all.
Please do not be dissencourage and I personally wish that all of us could become that monk.Thnks

Dear Venerable Sangha,

I understand that the violent eviction was unjustifiable & is absolutely nonsensical. May there be support for the welfare of the fellow Sangha members & hope things become peaceful soon.

You'll find there's no hurt or sorrow...
written by Taurus , October 10, 2009
There's a place in your heart
and I know that it is love.

And this place could be much
brighter than tomorrow.

And if you really try,
you'll find there's no need to cry.
In this place, you'll feel there's no hurt or sorrow.

There are ways to get there
if you care enough for the living.
Make a little space, make a better place...

Our true enemy
written by Jim , October 08, 2009
The conditions that cause aversion, desire, and ignorance to arise are our true enemies. What are these conditions and how can they be extinguished? How do we bring peace to those that hate us? How do we bring peace when we hate?

Dear Bat Nha Brothers and Sisters,
We visited you at Bat Nha last year and carry your lovely faces in our hearts and minds everyday. We cannot imagine what it is like for you but we know you are practicing together as a sangha and taking refuge in each other, the Buddha, and the Dharma. When we sit, we sit for each of you! When we walk-we walk for each of you!

My heart grieves for the peaceful people. Know that you are making an example for the entire world. I pray that the offenders will see the insanity of their actions and the peaceful monks will have strength and wisdom to endure under this trial. I pray that all beings find enlightenment. Breathe. Smile. God is. You are bringing light.

Dear Thay, brothers and sisters of Plum Village and Bat Nha,
Our sangha in Varese, Italy sent you energy yesterday during a special meditation dedicated especially to you. We hope that the energy of the Cosmos together with ours will turn in such a way that the Vietnamese gov't will stop persecuting Thay's peaceful followers. Thay is also my Zen Master, and I have been to Plum Village as well as to his Italian retreat in March 2008. I send you all my loving kindness from my heart and hope that this terrible violation of human rights will come to an end soon. Bat Nha is always in my thoughts and I will keep sending positive energy. I have signed all the petitions available.
Freedom and compassion to all Buddhists and all living beings in the world.

Dear beloved Sangha,

Our Sangha in Chiang Mai sends its full mindfulness and peace to all of you. The loving kindness meditation we directed to you and the thugs also nourished our own practice. The compassionate way you deal with the current situation is a inspiring metaphor for many of my own and our Sangha's challenges. I breathe in and look at the blue sky, I breathe out, I smile.

Saying Prayers...
written by Lotus-LoanThu , October 04, 2009
Dear Brothers and Sisters,

My heart is aching and my eyes swelling up with tears for what is happening to you and the situation you are in.

I am saying prayers to Quan Am Bo Tat for your safety and for the violence to end soon. May the Buddhas shine light on those who are doing harms to you and guide them out of the dark tunnel of hate, anger and fear! May there be understanding, compassion and peace!

Stay strong! We are here for you.

With big love and warm hugs to you all.

Dear friends,

It brings me great sorrow to see how you all we’re brutally taken away from your peaceful monastery. This is not how it’s suppose to be…
I’ll try to sit down every once and a while and send you all the positive energy I have in me. For I know that all human beings experience suffering and seek a way to attain well-being: some through power, others through spiritual pursuits. Without judging or imposing our point of view, we can legitimately affirm our need to live in peace and harmony and seek deeper understanding.
I’ll try not to worry. I’ll remember to smile and carry on with my spiritual practice. Generating peace in my heart is the best thing I can do for you brothers and sisters in Vietnam, and for the world.

With love,

Esther van Zeijlen

Message of support for Bat Nha
written by Minh Nguyen , October 04, 2009
Dear Brothers and Sisters,

I see you in every breath that I take. Your practice of compassion and peace has shown its fruits in your heroic and loving way in the last 5 months. Please, don't feel that you are defeated, even if people have to use violence against you because that only shows that they are afraid of you.

Thanks for having taught me the lesson of V^o U'y. I have much to learn from you.
